Talented guy. It's sad to think how many talented and gifted lives are going to waste as JWs. -

I received my acceptance letter into Nursing School.
by adjusted knowledge ini've been actively pursuing a career change for quite a few years.
i've applied for nursing programs at several local public colleges.
the competition is high for this limited access program.

Education, education, education....
by snare&racket inan update on my life post education..... as the governing body continue to denounce higher education, reality continues to prove their words ignorant, ill informed and blatant lies.
i am proud and astonished to say i have just been accepted for a university teaching hospital post.
i have a seriously sought after, senior house officer job in intensive care, endocrinology and clinical pharmacology.

As the Governing Body continue to denounce higher education, reality continues to prove their words ignorant, ill informed and blatant lies.
It just makes me want to scream that this collection of dim-witted GB (and I got to know many of them personally) would discourage students from pursuing education and meaningful careers. I should have gotten my degree decades ago and my life would be so much better. At least I'm glad that I finally did wake up and get my life moving away from WT idiocy.
Snare, your experience should be featured on the next JW TV. It should be, but sadly, it won't be. Because the GB wants all the sheeple to be stupid and unquestioningly obedient.

Effect of reading here.
by New day insaomebody mentioned in a recent thread here i think that the more they read here the more they feel angry at the wt.
personally, as an ex-elder (only resigned a few months ago) i feel that it is more like suddenly being on the outside looking in at a whole group of people playing parts.
the zealous pioneers answering all the time.

I would be interested to know if others feel that we assume roles as we enter the KH.
Indeed. The very top of this organization is men who have assumed their roles by nothing more than nibbling crackers and sipping wine once a year... and then kissing the right as$es.

Funny Story, I started reading Reddit today....
by eyefell4it2 inok so maybe i am a bit old school, late to the party, or whatever but i just discovered some subreddits (other than ex-jw) that have me completely addicted to the site.
for the whole afternoon, i have been going through the tifu section (pm me if you can't find the meaning of the acronym but just google it and the meaning should come up).
anyways, i thought i would share some funny ones here because, hey, we all need a good laugh and there's plenty of laugh provoking material on the net.

That's hilarious. But don't get me addicted to reddit, this place takes enough of my time! -

Fading and not "outing" yourself, what are your thoughts on it?
by Brock Talon infading and not "outing" yourself.. what are your thoughts on it?.
i ask, because i just received a scathing personal message on facebook from a person who read my latest book and in it i describe myself as a fader.
i was not dfd and i did not da myself.

No matter what you do in life, somebody else will get their panties in a bunch and try to "set you straight". You don't need some Facebook nutjob's approval in order to have a fun and fulfilling life.
For that matter you don't need my approval either, but you have my approval. And I think that if a "christian" is calling you "Dishonest, narcissistic, needing therapy, fooling myself, and other ugly words", you must be doing something right!
I've found that fading and not outing myself has been ideal. I can still talk to the ones I want to, and I can ignore the ones that I don't want to talk to.

Wow! I actually have in my possession one of the schlong books! And looking at the artwork that is rather light and pastel with all the other gracefully thin and "correct looking" arms and hands, the fingers on the backside of the songbook look accurate and thin. But rather than a wrist and thumb toward the inside of the book, it looks like, well, you know what.
Geez, now that it's pointed out to me, it sure looks deliberate.

Devouring the Forbidden Fruit - Higher Education
by cappytan inwell, i told my wife over the weekend i was going to go back school to finish my degree.
she is 100% supportive of it!
apparently she doesn't think higher education is so evil either.. since my former major was computer programming and that was in the late 1990's, i was told i'd have to retake a bunch of classes since times have changed.

Be sure to talk to Financial Aid Department. Fill out your FAFSA. You may qualify for federal or state grants, and you'll need it for federal student loans and the scholarships I saw. And you can get various tax credits for school expenses.
You realize this is very disappointing to the GB. Now you won't be left with much time for meetings, preaching, and studying mind-numbing WT litteratrash. Then you'll be doubting the Genesis accounts of creation and the flood and your critical thinking skills will have you doing face-palms repeatedly during meetings. And you'll be passionate about learning "worldly" truths rather than passionate about the latest music videos on JW TV.
So, HURRAY for us "forbidden fruit" eaters!

Okay, is it just me or is the ethnicity of the dad somewhat confusing?
He seems partly Latino and partly Count Chocula.

How do you respond to JW family?
by Laika infor those who have left and are still in contact with jw family, how do you usually respond when they bring up jw stuff, i.e.
start talking about the nearness of armageddon or things like that.. i usually say nothing and just let it pass but i'm considering changing tact to something more confrontational, less because i want to change their mind and more because i find it tiresome.
thoughts?

With my parents, I'll typically just change the subject... sometimes by asking about one of the dozens of elderly and sick in the congregation.
There's been a very few times that they've pushed my buttons enough for me to push buttons back, then I'll remind them that I'm old, unmarried, childless, and have nothing saved for my fast-approaching retirement age because I'd been told how close the end was back in the 1970s, 80s, 90s, 00s, and now the 2010s. And I'll remind them that none of their parents ever expected to die (but they did).
If my siblings are around, I'll use some sarcasm like, "Yep, that's why we call these the Last Days... because they last, and last, and last, and last!"
